Hi - I'm B.J. Marraccini.
I’ve always been drawn to what’s just beyond the ridgeline — to trace the contours of a relief map, to follow a drainage upstream, to step quietly into the forest and listen.
I grew up in the river valleys of western Pennsylvania, where the terrain is gentle but storied, and where the land taught me how to look closely — to read the shape of hills, the bends in creeks, the clues that landscapes leave behind. That early sense of curiosity became a lifelong pull.
In the years since, I’ve found home in the mountain ranges of the American West, exploring the high elevation ramparts of the Rockies and the steep volcanic spines of the Cascades. I’ve also lived by the coast, where saltwater and tide charts became part of daily life — a different rhythm, but the same instinct to observe, to immerse, and to understand.
Mountains, rivers, coastlines — each has shaped how I move through the world. This site is a loose chronicle of that ongoing exploration: part observation, part reflection, part field journal. Whether it’s a new trail, a curious landform, or just something I noticed while out wandering — it all lives here.
I’m also a cancer survivor, and have a story to tell. I've come back stronger than ever. More aware of the limited time we have. More determined to treat myself and others better. I'm lucky on so many levels.
Dive deep into the images. Enjoy.
